Nicely detailed story. You do a good job at setting the scene. I appreciate it.

That was a true pleasure to read. We learned a bit of history, too!

Made a small change to the story. I added a short line about Bat actually knowing Jonah and traveling with him before. In the orphaned story, Willows and Hexes, they are together in the year 1875. My story won't contradict this, plus, it was an easy fix.

I quickly checked JLA #198-199 (the first appearance of the "Rough Bunch"), and while it is by no means definite, it appears that Jonah Hex and Bat Lash may already know each other by that year: 1878. I don't think there is a definitive first meeting story for those two, but I'm sure Gerry Conway set the JLA tale in 1878 in order to allow for the first meeting of Jonah Hex and Bat Lash to be depicted in the JONAH HEX series that was still ongoing at the time, which was still taking place around 1875 when it ended.
The only one Jonah appears to meet for the first time is the original Cinnamon in her first appearance.
(The Cinnamon who appeared in two issues of Weird Western Tales in the 1970s must be a different woman named Cinnamon, since she is a young woman in those backup stories taking place in 1898, or 20 years later -- I've mentioned this before in the old Yahoo Groups, that the appearance of Cinnamon in a story taking place in the 1870s actually creates a huge continuity problem that can only be solved by ignoring the "1898" date or by having two Cinnamons or perhaps even time travel, which seems less likely.)
