I've been wondering, who became the District Attorney of Gotham City after Harvey Dent became Two-Face? The Mystery Analysts of Gotham City included in their membership District Attorney Danton, but I can't determine if he is the one who succeeded Harvey. Have any other Gotham City DAs been depicted pre-crisis?

I’ll look at my notes for Batman comics I’ve indexed.

I know this was much later, but didn't Jason Bard run for that office?

This is going to sound a bit weird, but Earth-1's timeline is compressed, so some details are different from Earth-2, where the stories took place over a longer period of time. On Earth-2, Harvey Dent was a new D.A. in 1942, probably the successor of D.A. Carter, who was murdered by the Joker in 1940.
But on Earth-1, I believe Harvey Dent was elected D.A. at the time that Bruce Wayne became Batman, and they became friends and allies in the first few months, when Batman was still officially an outlaw wanted by the police. Commissioner Gordon was still trying to arrest him for most of his first year.
Thus on Earth-1, D.A. Carter was Harvey Dent's successor as district attorney, not the other way around. But of course, the Joker murdered him, so D.A. Carter's successor was the unnamed D.A. seen in Batman #7's "The People Versus the Batman," one of the Earth-2 stories that also took place in the compressed Earth-1 timeline.
Another Earth-2 story that also takes place on Earth-1 is Detective Comics #186's "The Flying Bat-Cave," which portrays an unnamed D.A. that might possibly be the same one seen earlier, except the Batman #7 D.A. is bald, while the Detective #186 D.A. has brown hair -- maybe a toupee?

Then there's the D.A. from Detective Comics #240's "The Outlaw Batman," which is an Earth-1 story. This D.A. has grey hair and a white mustache. He could conceivably be the same D.A., since the slight physical differences can be explained.
The D.A. from Batman #108 next appears, and he looks like the one from Detective #186 with brown hair.
This could all be the same D.A., District Attorney Barnes, who is named as such in Detective Comics #306. Or perhaps there are two: one the actual D.A. and the other the Assistant D.A. who is referred to as the D.A. for brevity's sake during his appearances.
The next D.A. named is District Attorney Danton, first seen in Batman #168.
So I think the list must be as follows:
D.A. Harvey Dent D.A. Carter D.A. Barnes D.A. Danton D.A. David Stevens (see post below)
There was an Assistant D.A. named Jim Standish who was murdered in Batman #270. And, as Libby mentioned, Jason Bard ran for D.A. but was unsuccessful in his bid. I wonder if he'll run again?

Update: Batman #328 mentions a District Attorney David Stevens being murdered sometime prior to the story. This David Stevens was Harvey Dent's Assistant D.A. and presumably became the D.A. after Dent's accident and turn to criminality. Or, more likely given the existence of the other D.A.'s we know of in this list, he was elected D.A. at some point later on, as he appears to be the D.A. at the time of his death not long before this issue.
Interestingly, David Stevens married Gilda Gold Dent sometime after her first husband went back to being evil. Two-Face chronology is a bit complicated.
The jury is still out on this one. But I'm going to place D.A. David Stevens AFTER D.A. Danton, and assume he won out the position while running against Jason Bard. That doesn't answer the question of who is the current D.A., though. It might be seen as a "cursed" government position after all that.
