Edit: Ended up with: The Arsenal of Justice"...
Looking for some suggestions, on two fronts, regarding the fictional headquarters for a world war 2 superhero team, in a movie called... "The Greatest American Movie"
1. Should they have a public headquarters or a secret headquarters? It's in what is supposed to be a morale-building movie (read: wartime propaganda) rather than 'real life' so it seems to me that the movie HQ would be a grand public building, a symbol of heroism and the greatness of America, practically cluttered with patriotic mementos, with an honor guard outside. Suggestions? Since it IS a set for a propaganda movie, schmaltzy is OK!
2. What should this headquarters be nicknamed? Again, schmaltz seems ok. My first thought was the Arsenal of Justice, but that might actually have turned off movie goers during the war. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
The best suggestions will be rewarded with Dan-Lee no-prizes, and if you want, a speaking part in 'The Greatest American Movie'

The Fortress of Democracy? The Justice Building? The Citadel of Freedom?
I could see the HQ going either way. You could have it as a grand public building in a major city (probably Washington), and go with the spin that they are in the very center of democracy, and symbol to the public, but on the other hand, you have to include the idea of mobs of fans, crowds, and costand tours.
OTOH, you could out the headquarters on some distant mountain peak "from which they watch over the entire civilized world, so we can all rest safe in our beds" something like Sky Captain. It makes them see more military and vigilante, but implies they are more secretive and maybe less well-known

Since it is a movie, I can ignore the issues of crowds and security that would need to be addressed in real life. That's why I thought of showing the honor guard if I go with the public HQ. I think the public HQ may be more in line with the propaganda theme of 'victory for the noble citizens' than the private battle of some elite group... but maybe knowing Thadeus a failsafe provided by the heroes would be comforting...

Also, what would be the best place for a public HQ? I might put them in Cheyenne Mountain if it is a secret base...

The Foundation of Liberty? The Fortress of Freedom? The Lair of Liberty? The Foundation of Freedom? America's Heart? American Heartbeat? Er, if it's set in the present day, isn't there that pesky NORAD headquarters down in the innards of Cheyenne Mountain to consider too? Do these heroes have security clearance related to anything they might witness or sense in the vicinity? Although it might be very useful for NORAD to have the added deterrent of superheroes who might intervene against incoming ICBMs. It'd also make a nifty action scene within the movie if the heavy hitters in this group went up against an attack against the United States from a generic Rogue State Which Shall Be Nameless. According to this article, NORAD had premises within Cheyenne Mountain from 1963 onward: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NORADOkay, so it's World War II. If it's not set on our Earth, you could do things like tweak the Nazi nuclear weapons development programme slightly so that they have a functional nuclear weapon or two of their own in (say) 1943- 1944. The US knows about this though. Say, something like this... D Day is approaching fast, and Hitler is going seriously gaga. Out of desperation, he turns to Himmler and asks him if there are any wunderwaffe that could still win the war for the Reich. Jah, says Heinrich, these newfangled V+ rockets, which can even reach the east coast of the United States (ie ICBMs). So the Reich decides to launch its three of its functional nuclear weapons against New York, Washington DC and Philadelphia. Our heroes have to stop them.

nah, set in 1943 when it was still just a mountain... if it turns out to be a secret hideout, I will definitely use 'Lair of Liberty'! Thanks!
