Using a great website called the Unofficial Batman Chronology Project, I have been tracking down all the teachers Bruce Wayne trained under before becoming Batman. I was curious, because Bruce's dream was to become the ultimate one-man crimefighter. By looking at who he studied under, we can get an idea of the skills he though he would need to do this.
Some of them make sense, others are very interesting, and make you wonder just what he imagined his crusade on crime would look like. Note that this does not include skills Bruce taught himself, only the ones he sought out masters to train him in.
animal control detective work disguise driving escapology espionage (more broadly, sneaking into secure places and getting things out) explosives finance forging metal hang gliding martial arts (50% of his teachers) medicine (specifically, how to heal himself quickly, in difficult situations) physical development (gymnastics, yoga, weight training, stuntwork, and other forms of physical toughening that do not involve fighting) piloting science sky diving slight-of-hand supernatural (not how to work magic, but how to spot it and deal with it) ventriloquism wilderness survival

It'd be interesting if he crossed paths with Diana Prince's one-time companion and mentor I-Ching as one of his teachers.

he has shown some other skills that are usually imparted by teachers. Scuba diving comes to mind. Plus somebody must have trained him on building cars, helicopter, propeller and jet planes. He probably learned his electronics through a mail-order correspondence course he found in the back of a Doc Savage magazine. I supposed fencing and ranged weapons are probably part of martial arts training, though most people think of martial arts as hand-to-hand. He probably picked up chemistry in college. After he got a butler, Alfred probably did his tailoring.

When you realize that Bruce made his vow at 8 years old in 1958 and began learning his skills from that time on until (and even after as documented in some flashbacks when he was in costume) becoming the Batman in late 1970, he must’ve had many teachers over those 12 years. I also suspect that while Bruce was seeking out experts to teach him skills he wanted to learn, he was also very diligent about writing down every skill he thought he might need.
I have often thought that Bruce must have missed a lot of school and was one of those kids that rarely studied for an exam but still got A’s because he already learned all about it on his own. His teachers probably found him frustrating, because despite so many absences and little study he still did better than most others in the class. Bruce probably read and basically memorized each textbook at the beginning of each semester and never bothered cracking them open again the rest of the year.

I suspect he probably has an eidetic memory. And the question is, precisely when did he decide to craft his fickle playboy persona to differentiate Bruce Wayne from the Batman?
