I decided to revisit my Earth-718 story, in which President Lex Luthor is unimpeded due to the absence of an inhabited Krypton and therefore Superman, and, merged with a neural net constructed from the remains of Brainiac, proceeds to obliterate all life on Earth. At the time of this nuclear holocaust, his estranged First Lady, Lana Lang Luthor, was disclosing her ex-husband's corruption and dark deeds. The thing is, this Lex-Brainiac fusion can't be allowed to get away with a crime of that magnitude. I know John planned on using my version of Lex as the lead villain in his League of Luthors story, but that doesn't preclude this scenario. As you may have already guessed from the title, I've made Lana Earth-718's Spectre. Because, on most other alternate Earths, Lana is fundamentally a good and virtuous woman, this version of her has no hesitation in accepting the offer that the Presence makes her. And the ironic thing is, on Earth-718, there was never any Superman and yet, Lana made her choice to become her Earth's Spectre without any thought of herself. So, what do you think of the idea?

Sure, why not? The Earth-1 Lana was once the super-strong, overly muscled Girl Atlas (not to mention Insect Queen, Gravity Girl, and any number of other transformations), so why not the Spectre?

This one has a certain strength of mind and character, compared to the other superpowered versions of her. She's basically been deputised to stop Lex from wiping out any more planets and avenge the extinction of humanity that this iteration of Lex perpetrated. It'll be interesting to write this version of Lana and the Spectre and see how she interprets her new role. And what happens when she meets an AU iteration of Superman at some point, given she hasn't met a Kal-El in this universe because there was no life on Krypton-718.
