I was thinking it might be time to open this forum up to the public at large. I'm not expecting a big influx, but we might get a bump in traffic and maybe new writers. forum.5earths.com/

Perhaps. You might want to add some links to the main archives so visitors can read up on what we're doing.

I agree about making it visible. We should continue to encourage our authors to add their finished stories. Doc, is it possible to create sub-forms for completed stories and move the completed story posts to those folders - just a thought. Or is there some way to flag completed stories as opposed to stories in process, so a visitor could come in and only read completed stories?

I agree, I'd like it if there was some way to keep the complete and incomplete stories distinct.
As for opening up the forum to new writers, I think it's a great idea, including providing some kind of link so they can read the stories so far. I would also add a disclaimer that, in the event they write stories NOT in keeping with the timeline, the moderates will not include their stories in it and may modify or remove them. We don't want the site cluttered with crazy off-the-walls stories that don't even try to fit in.

We have some experience with that, John. The disclaimer should say, 'moderator can remove any story that doesn't meet the community standards' but there could be legal repercussions if a moderator actually makes changes to a story posted by someone unless the author specifically gives permission. So safer to just remove it.

BTW, I dropped a few bucks on Facebook advertising, targeting a fairly specific demographic, so hopefully we'll be getting some new readers and writers from that. Let's make sure to welcome all visitors!

Is everyone making the move? So far, we're showing 15 members.

I haven't seen Sandy Hausler yet. And Dave Barnowski still hasn't made a post.

Good to see you, Arcademan!
The more folks we hear from at our new digs, the more comfortable I will be.

Good to see you, Arcademan! The more folks we hear from at our new digs, the more comfortable I will be. I'm so nervous that Yahoo groups will disappear before we have all the stories moved over. I'd hate to loose good work forever. I've started copying a few onto my computer, just in case.

I've got all the stories as of about a year ago. I should collect the latest chapters into my files. I hope to start publishing the stories to the site again soon, too.

The last story I wrote (still unfinished) awhile back is saved. Hopefully I'll do my best to go back and finish it. Truthfully, my personal life's been a mess the last couple of years which is why I seemingly dropped off the face of the Earth.
